St. John’s Breadline in Springfield has been serving the community since 1928. St. John's Breadline serves free, hot, and nutritious meals in a clean and positive environment daily. Open 365 days a year and providing anywhere from 400 – 500 meals a day, the Breadline is a lifeline to not only the homeless but to many people who are on fixed incomes or have various disabilities.

As followers of Jesus, we must respond to the greatest needs of our day with love and hope.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. – Matthew 25:35.

Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. – Matthew 25:40

  • The average cost of each meal served is $4.50.
  • Donations of food, time, and money support the program.

The Eisenberg Pantry (located inside the St. John's Breadline)
The Eisenberg “Take What You Need” Pantry was established in 2020 in partnership with the Eisenberg Foundation. Various food and toiletry items donated by area grocers and individual donors are available to guests daily so that they may prepare meals at home in addition to their provided meal at the Breadline.  Items often include: fresh produce, whole meats, breads, non-perishable food items, and USDA/TFAP foods, etc. The pantry is open during service hours and there is no item limit. Guests are encouraged to take what they need.

Thanks for helping serve those most in need in your community!
